Our Story
Having made South Africa our home, we found that some of our favorite tastes and flavors that were second nature to us in Switzerland were just not available here. We found that the mayonnaise in South Africa was overly sweet and/or tangy, whereas we preferred a savory thicker version.
As South Africans are innovative and creative, and in the spirit of the saying “ ‘n Boer maak ‘n plan”, we create some of those flavors ourselves to ease the transition to magnificent South African life.
One of these was mayonnaise. We were delighted with the result and have enjoyed it for the better part of 45 years.
Considering the recent turbulence in the mayonnaise market, it dawned on us that South Africans need not be deprived of that beautiful condiment, but just share our lovingly created mayonnaise with the rest of our fellow citizens.
Walla, Romayo was born.
